End of 2008

December 31, 2008 at 5:34 pm (Uncategorized) ()

Well it’s the last day of 2008, and as some may be reflecting on their personal lives and making resolutions to lose that 20 pounds or finally talk to that cute girl, I suggest we take another route.  America is a nation of procrastinators – always has been.

“Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?” – someone important

I say you go back to your New Years resolution from last year and accomplish it in the next 12 hours.  That means getting a plastic sweat suit out and running all day to lose that weight, or maybe getting drunk in the afternoon so you have the nerve to call that cute girl.  Do whatever you have to do.  Finish up 2008 the right way.  Happy New Year.  I’m going to go get ahead of the curve and spend just over next year’s quota of time with family and friends.

Something that needs to be addressed

Sometimes it’s hard to stand for your convictions.  Sometimes, in today’s politically correct world, we forget how to think freely.  Sometimes, we need someone to show us what’s right under our nose but we just can’t see.  What I say may not always be popular, but what’s popular isn’t always right, right?  I read that on a children’s poster.  Some things I may write may not please everyone, but I think this needs to be said.  Beyonce Knowles is a raging sexist.

Of course I’m referring to her hit song “If I Were a Boy.”  Now pardon me as I speak candidly to Miss Knowles for just one minute.

Beyonce, will the hatred never cease?  Why must we force this divide between the genders?  Don’t you see how far we’ve come?  Yes, perhaps some men are dicks, and you may be writing a song to one of them, but must you condemn the entire sex?  But I’m JUST a boy? Really, Beyonce?  Please stop belittling me.  Do you have any idea how many bitches there are out there?

Alright, I apologize for the open letter to Beyonce, but sometimes something just needs to be said.  And I just felt like that needed to be said.

Sure some may argue that this is a song written to one specific boy, but to those naysayers, I say NAY.  She’s clearly generalizing, saying “if I were a boy” not “if I were you.”  At any rate, I would just like to close by reminding everyone that Beyonce should be glad she’s not “just a boy” because if she were, she wouldn’t be a multiplatinum recording artist, the character Foxxy Cleopatra, and cheesy face of DirecTV.  She would be at home bitching on her new blog about something completely unnecessary.

I just wanted a place where I can post my thoughts and musings.  I realize I may not have anything original to say, but neither does anyone else.  Somebody’s gonna lotto.  Might as well be me.
